Dr. Marcelle Moncrieffe-Newman, a distinguished Black woman from London, has forged an impressive career path, ascending to influential leadership roles. Throughout her professional journey, she emerged as a beacon of support for fellow Black employees navigating racism and obstacles to career advancement.

Intrigued by the persistent organisational cultures that seemed to perpetuate these negative experiences, Dr. Moncrieffe-Newman undertook doctoral research into the impact on the career trajectories of Black employees. 

The culmination of her research and personal experiences has resulted in a compelling book. This work serves as a powerful testament, shedding light on the lived experiences of anti-Black racism in professional settings. Moreover, it goes beyond mere exposition, offering actionable strategies and insights on how to effectively combat these pervasive issues in the workplace. Through her academic rigour and personal insights, Dr. Moncrieffe-Newman's work stands as a crucial contribution to the ongoing dialogue on racial equity in professional environments, providing both a mirror to reflect current realities and a roadmap for positive change.

About the Author

 

Dr. Marcelle Moncrieffe-Newman is an accomplished Human Resources executive with extensive experience leading corporate functions at the board level. Throughout her career, she has been a passionate advocate for fostering ethical and inclusive workplace cultures.

Dr. Moncrieffe-Newman's educational background includes:

  • PhD from Heriot-Watt University

  • Master's degree in Human Resource Management

  • Bachelor's degree in Law

  • Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development
     

This combination of legal knowledge and human resources expertise has equipped her to navigate complex organisational challenges and drive positive change.
